Dear Doctors, Medical Students, Nurses, Medical & Pharmaceutical Industry Excibitors,
Join us at the Megaron(Mousikis) Convention Center, on May 15-17, 2015. This is a major scientific event on which I personally, as the president of the Greek Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, along with Professor Dimitris Linos, our Governor, George Velmachos, Professor of Harvard Medical School and all the Board of Chapter have put a lot of effort and time to organize in conjunction with EFIEE and its president Dimitris Ntentakis whom I thank for everything he is doing. The President of the American College of Surgeons, Professor Andrew Warshaw will honor us with his presence!
The Greek Chapter of the American College of Surgeons announces its inaugural scientific Symposium, entitled Cutting Edge Trauma and Emergency Surgery – Tricks, Tips, Techniques. The conference will take place in MegaronMousikis on May 15 and 16, 2015 and will be the first conference in Greece with exclusive participation of international speakers. An impressive panel of 9 American and 3 European academic surgeons will deliver all the lectures and related sessions of the conference. The lecturers, including the President of the American College of Surgeons, enjoy international reputation, are considered true experts on their fields, and can be expected to bring an unparallel wealth of information to the audience.
As the title of the conference implies, emphasis will be paid to new techniques and innovative methods of treating traumatic and emergency surgical disease. On the first day of the Symposium, the participants will listen about a variety of emergency surgery topics, including hollow visceral perforations, gastrointestinal bleeding, bowel obstruction, and different inflammatory conditions, such as pancreatitis or clostridium difficile colitis. On the second day, the focus will be on trauma topics, including pelvic injuries, head and spinal injuries, resuscitative methods, nutrition of the severely injured patient, and vascular problems. Again, the emphasis will be on new surgical and non-surgical therapies for all these diseases.
The Symposium will differ from other similar educational offerings in two important ways: First, it will be fast-paced. Essentially, no lecture will be longer than 15 minutes. This will allow the audience to receive central messages without risking long and protracted talks about secondary details. Second, it will deliver the information by a variety of methods, not just by lectures. There will be multiple expert panel sessions, debates, competitions, case presentations, and interactive sessions. In this way, the audience will become an active participant and not just a passive listener.
We feel confident that the outstanding group of prestigious international lecturers combined with the vibrant and refreshing format of the program will create a unique conference, which will raise the existing educational standards to a different level for our country. We expect that in parallel with the education, there will be multiple opportunities for socialization and networking with the invited guests, who are all keen to meet the Greek surgeons, surgical trainees, and medical students. As a result, we hope to offer a truly exceptional surgical conference and we invite you to be part of this inaugural event.
Konstantinos Konstantinidis , MD, PhD, FACS
